October 2016 – “Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.”

“Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them – every day begin the task anew.”

Saint Francis de Sales
French saint & bishop of Geneva (1567 – 1622)

Whether you’ve been foolish enough to allow good sense to be USURPED by hope, or have the wisdom to NOT allow HOPE to hijack your good sense…the thought that ANYONE, even J.C., can turn the worst offence in the league into something even approaching respectability, IN ONE WEEK of practice and with 1/3 of the season remaining…HAS to be a HUGE longshot.

Even if the Alouettes don’t win…or it looks like we won’t make the playoffs, I urge patience of EVERY one of the 23,420 fans at SOLD OUT Molson Stadium, and everyone watching remotely on Sunday afternoon, wherever you may be.

We need to see progress. We need to see a better understanding, utilization and MOST ESPECIALLY PROTECTION of our quarterback.

We need to see a FULL 60 minute effort. NO FADING in the last minutes of the half OR the game. We need to see GREATER discipline. YES I’m talking to YOU, defence and special teams. Let’s give Steph Logan a chance to get us some field position boys. STOP holding, clipping and grabbing…or we lose. NO STUPID PENALTIES. Simple as that.

Chapdelaine and the Alouettes crammed 4 practises in the week after bye-week holidays. That’s a pretty thick schedule but let’s temper our expectations:

Even with DIVINE intervention and this team has NEEDED an intervention of some sort for a LONG time…offences, just like Rome, cannot be built in a day.

“There art two cardinal sins from which all others spring: Impatience and Laziness.”

Franz Kafka (1883 – 1924)
