The Toronto Argonauts announced the re-signing of former Alouettes abuse victim, Adrian McPherson. Considering Ray’s poor showing so far this season…it’s conceivable Milanovich may ACTUALLY be intending McPherson FINALLY get his shot in this league.
WATCH whether McPherson goes out there with STRICT orders to NEVER throw a pass. Can’t show up the OLD MAN after all…
If that is OFF Milanovich is either so pissed he’s going to buck NFL “secret” directives and start a player who’s for all intent and purposes been BANNED…OR I (and a lot of others) have been wrong all this time and McPherson has just been the unluckiest son of a gun in league history.
I was going to write “there’s no denying AD’s talent” but then that just isn’t true, is it? I know it won’t erase WASTING the best years of his career riding the pines behind Anthony Calvillo…but I sincerely hope McPherson FINALLY gets a chance to show his stuff. Let the chips fall where they may.
If Milanovich DOES actually give AD a shot, may I humbly predict that before the third week TSN announcers will be wondering WHY this guy hasn’t seen the field except as a limited…short-yardage specialist his ENTIRE career. Calvillo might wish he ACTUALLY knows kungfu to knock THAT one down. LA HONTE!
Ray’s been looking a bit like a dinosaur back there. The game’s evolving and Ray’s sedentary style doesn’t seem to be cutting it.
Milanovich was on the Alouettes sidelines when McPherson did something Calvillo almost NEVER managed to do: win in Hamilton. He also passed for 238yds, thew a TD pass, ran for 121yds (2nd to Joe Barnes in Alouettes HISTORY!)…all THIS with a brace on his knee and just coming off the 9-game IR after a knee injury. Can you IMAGINE what the guy would have done if he’d gotten a few starts in this league?
In an added irony, the Ticats losing quarterback was one Kevin Glenn. Glenn went 11/27 for 159yds (mediocre) before being replaced by Quinton Porter, 2/6 15yds (ditto). Oh…Glenn ALSO ran twice, for four yards. How’s THAT for a kick in the nads…Als fans?
AFTER HIS SHOWING IN HAMITON…IS IT ANY WONDER TRESTMAN AND CALVILLO MADE DAMN SURE MCPHERSON NEVER GOT ANOTHER CHANCE TO THROW A PASS IN A GAME THAT MATTERED FOR THE REMAINDER OF HIS ALOUETTES CAREER?!?
Spring 2016 and McPherson was having a great camp, vying for the job of backing up Rick Ray…when he was mysteriously and surprisingly released before the regular season. Hopefully Milanovich will finally make good on a promise LONG overdue, made by Jim Popp, Marc Trestman, Anthony Calvillo and by extension, Milanovich himself: to give Adrian McPherson a CHANCE.
He’s NEVER asked for anything more.
